Interior designing Process
Each design firm has its way of going about with their respective processes of handling projects and diverse culture of working. Epater Design Studio is all about transparency and collaboration. I am a firm believer that great design is a product of communication and awareness about what’s around you, in short, ‘inspiration’ and that comes from what you see around, right!
I’d like my clients to have a complete knowledge about how we work which can, in turn, be helpful for you folks to decide whether we are the kind of professionals you want to hire Interior designers in West Vancouver.
Step 1
Any client who approaches us, there is an initial meeting set up, meeting up at the site is the best, wherein the designer would take in some very intermediate knowledge that is necessary. Now, in case of a residential project, we understand the client as an individual so that we know what could be best for them design-wise and it helps us with providing very useful solutions. If it is a commercial project, the focus is more to the use of the space than to an individual. The size of the project varies too, let us say, if it’s a clinic for a dentist, our focus is on both the client and the use of space. If it’s a large commercial project, I’d say the focus lies all in the way space has to be used.
Professionals at Epater Design Studio identify all of these aspects before gathering initial information. Some firms have questionnaires that they put their clients to answer in the first meeting. We do not do that.
Some very common questions that you could expect us to ask you are how you want the space to look and feel like, what are your limitations, timeframe, budget, whether they’ll to hire us on a turnkey basis or just hourly wise or price per square feet wise and so forth. The first meeting is all about LISTENING and LISTENING and ending it by taking pictures of the site of course.
Step 2
This second step is all about design discussions. I love this process, it’s my personal favorite because it gets every designer’s creative juices flowing. We come up with a design presentation where we have tons of reference pictures with the pictures we clicked of the site. The reference will help the client/clients to understand what we are wanting to do at which space in the site. This step in the process can take hours and hours and we can decide what to finalize. We take all the specifications of the site for us to help further and the process to move smoothly.
Step 3
Now, this step is all about numbers and thinking like an entrepreneur. We partner with our most reliable and best contractors and craftsmen to discuss things like cost, time, procurement, etc. The BOQ (Bill Of Quantity) and other approximate
important information is shared with the client. If they approve of it and we have the green signal, it’s about showtime!
Step 4
We work on the final design which includes a series of 2d drawing done on Auto Cad and 3d visualizing which we do on Google SketchUp and 3Ds Max. This can take most of the time. There is a lot of interactions with our clients and contractors throughout this process. Once we get past it, the final cost of the project and time is revised once again. The designs are meanwhile submitted for permit.
Step 5
This process is all about construction. Regular site visits are made, a lot of precise material selection is done. Clients can expect minor changes with the design because designing some on papers and building it sometimes can be different. This is not the case always but you can expect it.
Step 6
Completion and Handover with a 100% client satisfaction are all to it. That is our greatest reward as Designers.
